In order to determine the status of your skin, its type and the best possible treatment for it, a skin analysis is required. It can also determine the causative factors of skin damage such as your daily routine of skin care, history of sun exposure, genetics and existing medical conditions. As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure, but if damage is already present to your skin, it is still possible that the damage may be reversed with the proper treatments.
We will give you a comprehensive understanding of your skin through helping both the patient and Dermal Therapist create a treatment strategy in achieving optimum results now and into the future. Skin analysis enables patients to gain control of their skin care in the best possible way by assessing any possible issues that may interfere with the treatment – this reduces the amount of skin treatments required and costs associated with it. At Total Face Group, we have clinics in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Canberra that are dedicated to offering a skin analysis and treatment solutions.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A SKIN ANALYSIS
Your medical history will be asked to serve as a basis prior to the start of the treatment. If medical conditions such as rosacea, psoriasis, redness, eczema, asthma, liver problems and other illness are present, then further assessment may be needed.
The next step of your evaluation will focus on your history of exposure to the sun. Your lifestyle and use of sunscreen products will be assessed as these factors can lead to skin cancer and premature ageing. Each facial area reflects different skin concerns. During the analysis process, your skin will be divided into 14 distinct zones to determine suitable professional products and techniques.
The first analysis will take approximately take 10 minutes. You will be instructed to lie on a table; your aesthetician will wrap your hair with a towel and will begin thorough cleansing of the skin using wipes or sponges to remove traces of make-up. During the cleansing, the aesthetician will assess your skin for the following:
- Breakouts or bumps
- Extreme dryness
- Firmness and sagginess
- Its texture
- Whether you easily turn red from being touched
Next comes the in-depth skin analysis, which makes use of a magnifying lamp with bright lights surrounding it. This allows the aesthetician to clearly visualise your skin in a more detailed way. Your eyes will be covered with cool cotton eye pads to protect you from bright lights. During the skin analysis, the aesthetician will assess your skin and will tell you what he or she sees – things positive or negative about your skin and how it can be improved.
POTENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR A SKIN ANALYSIS
Skin analysis can be done to assess the skin condition of a patient. Anyone who is willing to know the status of their skin is a good candidate for the procedure. People with rosacea, psoriasis, redness, eczema, asthma, liver problems and other illness may need further assessment aside from skin analysis.
Skin analysis is a very safe procedure especially under skilled hands. There are no associated risks with it as it is a form of skin assessment conducted by an experienced aesthetician.
